The Black book of words is
a unique book that shows cultures throughout an inspiring world
collection of illustrations and swear expressions.
This book aims to be a record of expressions from around the world.
As such we are gathering almost all countries and languages from the five continents.
Choose your favourite!
The book lists a selection of renowned and upcoming illustrators and artists from around the world. Creating a database of compelling artworks and illustrations. Each artist with a particular style and cultural background.
To inspire a smile
Words are linked to feelings, and feelings are experienced by everyone. What varies are the translations we do of feelings into words.
So be inspired by how we all use words in different ways.

Find out what people care about
on the deepest levels
It’s not about
It’s not about Hate, it’s not about discrimination or simply unrighteous. It’s not an attempt to attack cultures. It’s not meant to hurt anyone’s sensibility.
An attempt to make cultures more transparent. Unveiling hidden aspects, showing the other side of language. Establishing patterns and similarities between countries.
Its about finding meanings to expressions that already lost it.
It’s about getting surprised
It’s about exploring other cultural traits that people use everyday, and that people neglect. And getting surprised by the findings from this exploration.

Like what you see?
I was delighted to be invited to illustrate o behalf of my little island Ireland. It's such a unique theme that lends itself to humour, identity and historical storytelling I can't wait to see the completed collection.
